  Little M. was born on 18.12. and would have been born on 21.12. are to be operated. His circulation was difficult to stabilize, had breathing stops again and again, he was then ventilated – the tube was too deep in the lungs, so the lungs were not properly ventilated, also had an increased inflammation value, so he was then given additional antibiotics. He was then already on 20.12. operated. During the operation, everything was as expected, but the following night, an arterial line necessary for monitoring no longer worked, and a new one could only be inserted after several attempts.

  During or shortly after this surgical procedure, the boy had to be resuscitated for a few minutes, but due to the lack of monitoring indicators, it is actually not known for sure whether the heart was not working anyway.

  Today there is a slight all-clear, the condition is stable, there were no abnormalities all day, the medication can already be withdrawn a little, he gets the first breast milk through a tube.

  Reiki please also for the mother

  Dear Reiki Community!

  Please send Reiki to my wife K. as well. My wife was also very brave, but of course her circumstances were even more debilitating than mine. K. is a pathologist, so of course she knows very well what can go wrong, and the last TGA child unfortunately also died because of infections.

  K. has lost quite a bit of blood, so in addition to fear, anxiety and pain, he is also powerless. Every time some little thing happens, even if it’s just that no one can answer the phone in the ICU for 30 seconds, it raises the worst fears!

  K. is also okay so far that she can be temporarily discharged tomorrow while M. is in the ICU.

  Things are looking up

  On 25.12. there was another critical situation: M.’s three drains were removed from his abdomen; then one half of his lung collapsed, because apparently air was able to enter. Of course, K. (Mama) was highly upset again. A drain was placed again and within a day the lung was almost fully developed again.

  Things have been going uphill fast in the last few days! The situation now: M. will probably be transferred from the intensive care unit to the normal unit tomorrow. He only has:

  • the pacemaker wires (long since switched off, but for all eventualities – is the last thing to come out)
  • a venflon in the arm for blood sampling
  • feeding tube: at the moment he drinks about half from the bottle, even with two breastfeeding attempts a little bit went, the rest still via the tube
  • mostly he still has an oxygen tube next to him – blood saturation is already sufficient without it, but it just helps.

  Thank you very much 🙂 K. is very happy now, yesterday she was allowed to hold the little one in her arms for the first time, today she is already walking around a bit. Yes, at the turn of the year a few more tears were shed over this exhausting 2012, otherwise she is doing quite well now. It was all just much worse for them than already feared, because
  1.) the physical weakness was added to the psychological stress.
  2.) every even slightly changed value of any finding made them highly nervous.

  M. is well

  Since my last feedback at the beginning of January, things have gone uphill very quickly! Our M. is already doing very well, he is developing excellently – he is now also a completely healthy baby with a healthy heart! E. (our 5-year-old daughter) loves him, we have to slow her down when her “bussi-orgies” get too violent. Nice and slowly everything is getting back to normal, it’s now getting back to being like a “normal” baby.

  Yes, it was a difficult time, the months of waiting for something uncertain, the birth, the operation, the anxiety afterwards. There are ups and downs during this time – K. was lower down than me – for me it was always a manageable task despite everything.

  Luck and misfortune are often close together! At the end of August, half the world still collapsed with the prognosis “heart defect – not viable without surgery”.

  During the “waiting period” in October, K. mastered her residency. Two weeks ago, she had her first day on the job as an attending – after a colleague quit, she was offered a marginal job. Something has happened with me too, I had my last simulator training today, in a few days I will fly as captain for the first time.
