Weakness, hearing loss, vulnerability

Period: 10.11.2014 - 10.01.2015
Protocol entries: 7
Area(s): Accidents / injuries, Alzheimer / Dementia / Parkinson, Operation, Weakness

I request that E.S. (87) be admitted to the inpatient program. She is informed, agrees and is looking forward to the Reiki support. I ask initially for a period of 2 months.
E. has been struggling with various health problems for years. Since a hearing loss several years ago, her hearing has been severely impaired. The trembling of her hands accompanies her even longer. It has been linked to Parkinson’s disease, but is not medically clear. Various medications repeatedly lead to low blood pressure, which has also added circulatory weakness and fatigue. On 05.11. she came to the hospital with severe pain. In general, in the last few years, she was always shuttling between home and the hospital because of various symptoms. E. is a good friend of our family and a former colleague of my mother. For her part, she used to be very supportive of us.

This case has a history; see“Increasing Quality of Life.”

    Femoral neck fracture

    E. is still in the hospital. On Nov. 12, 2 days after starting the inpatient program, she suffered a fracture of the neck of the femur in a fall. No surgery will be performed for the time being. Of course, one could say, now she needs the Reiki help even more. People close to her told her she didn’t want any more. I visited her briefly with my family on Sunday, she was visibly happy about that.

    Operation

    E. will have surgery for the hernia tomorrow, 11/24. Without surgery, she realized, she would become a nursing case. So the decision was made to do so despite the risks involved.

    OP managed

    E. was born yesterday 26.11. finally operated successfully. The surgery was postponed 2 times because the coagulation values were not okay. The decision to have the surgery was a long process, but she finally went for it. For us, a sign of the will to live.

    After the surgery

E.’s will to live is slowly increasing and the otherwise “rather lazy” E. no longer resists the physiotherapeutic rehab so strongly. She’s already phased sitting up in bed. But what is particularly striking is that she again takes an interest in her environment, in the worries and joys of her friends. That is very nice.
She will stay at the trauma hospital for a few more days and then go to the acute geriatric ward to mobilize her as well as possible. Then, when she comes home – which everyone hopes she will – 24-hour care is arranged.

    REHAB

    E. is now in rehab for a few weeks. There is progress. The most beautiful is that she is reading again. She also sits at the table more often now, at meals anyway. Not very much is likely to happen over the Christmas period, that’s just the way it is.
24-hour care for the period after her discharge is organized. And we all hope that things will continue to go uphill. Thanks to all, happy holidays and happy new year.”

    Home soon

I visited E. in the hospital. She is not yet able to walk after her surgery (fracture of the neck of the femur). At least she can sit up quite quickly. Her discharge is scheduled for Jan. 13, 2015, and 24-hour care has been arranged in her home. Her will to live has definitely increased.
I especially thank all the broadcasters who supported E. The official end of the inpatient program is 10/01/15.

    Review - Outlook

The following feedback from T., who probably supervises E most intensively:

“We would like to say THANK YOU to everyone who supported E. with Reiki. When I remember what happened 2 months ago, when E. wanted to die and couldn’t, when she decided – despite her poor health – to have the operation (fracture of the neck of the femur), without which she would have had to spend the rest of her life in bed, I can’t believe that she is doing so “well” now. She can stand up again with help, walk a bit with the rollator, she reads again, she is completely awake. Of course, it is not healthy, but that was not to be expected.
She will be released from rehab on Jan. 13 and return to her apartment. We organized 24-hour care and made the apartment ready for it. Thanks again to all. T. (on behalf of all friends of Erika)”
