AIDS: a study

Period: 19.05.2012
Area(s): Immune system / thyroid gland

Heiner Bucher from the University Hospital Basel (Institute of Clinical Epidemiology) asked 3700 HIV-infected men and women what their relationship was and then the virus count in the blood and AIDS typical signs (skin tumor or pneumonia) were checked and the CD4 defense cells were counted.

HIV patients in stable relationships showed a 20% lower risk of becoming ill with AIDS and a 40% reduction in mortality.

The viral count in the blood decreases and the CD4 count increases (with love).

The discoveries are scheduled to be published in the British Medical Journal.
