Where are all the men?

As a Reiki teacher I hear this question regularly. Often men constitute only 10%, 20% of the participants in a Reiki seminar. Maybe this is why this photo has found such attention in the social media.

The picture was taken on the 21st October at the Reiki Festival in Gersfeld. It shows men from Holland, Germany and Switzerland. More significant than their geographic origin is the accord with which they stand together, have worked and celebrated with each other representing Jikiden Reiki, Gendai Reiki Ho and Usui Shiki Ryoho.

From left: Ekart Sohns who has led most amusingly through the variety show in the evening. Jojan Jonker gave important presentations on Masters‘ Day (Initiation) and at the festival (2022, future). Next is Nico Michielsen, co-organiser and -presenter of the event. Fokke Brink spoke about the past and prepared the ground for the future. I had an opportunity to present my next Interview-Doku. Then there is Gerd Knieps, reliable pillar and support and Oliver Drewes who presented himself as publisher and author of Holistika.

May positive male creativeness come to fruition elsewhere in life, too.

Don’t hide!

A  summary of … “PR experiences”

Paradox! Oftentimes Reiki people complain that Reiki is not adequately recognised by the public, that hospitals do not incorporate Reiki sufficiently and that politicians do not have Reiki on their agendas. And then there are journalists and medical doctors who say: “You don’t show yourself enough!”   Continue reading “Don’t hide!”

How incredible !

Here we are, Phyllis, her translator, my son and I. We are about to present 3 of the 66 videos from the „archive“. The occasion is the 2017 ProReiki congress in Gersfeld/Germany. And – lo and behold – in one of these videos Hans, the translator, is getting portrayed. We only realize this live on stage…

The ProReiki congress…

… is a possibility to get to know the Reiki community. This professional association is remarkable because it managed to formulate a common set of values and to get differing Reiki-opinions under one roof. It enjoys international recognition as is expressed by the honory membership from Japan (Tadao Yamaguchi), USA (Phyllis Furumoto) and UK (Don Alexander). Continue reading “The ProReiki congress…”

Courage – essential nutrient for change to the better

The Head of Division in a multinational corporation discovers the value of Reiki. First for herself in her personal life dealing with health and stress. Then she wondered if it could be of benefit to her team. For their personal circumstances, team efficiency, cooperation among colleagues and when dealing with restructuring and anxiety about the future.

Efforts for recognition – our closeness, our distance

„Reiki gains recognition as Complementary Therapy.” Sounds  good? Why, really? Because it meets Reiki-aficionados‘ personal longing for appreciation? Or because Medical Aid companies would pay for treatments and seminars? Is it about money? Or is it a matter of the heart?

It’s the psychology, stupid…

(paraphrasing a US president.) The most relevant aspect of Reiki is practice, practice, practice…. on oneself, on others. In that sense, I am looking forward to treating my Reiki client tomorrow morning. Scientific studies are helpful to show Reiki’s effectiveness, which in turn is relevant for incorporation in the medical system. This is why tonight I busy myself with a study. Tomorrow my hands will do the talking again… Continue reading “It’s the psychology, stupid…”
