My father (77 years old) travels in China. In Shanghai, he suffered food poisoning and was admitted to the hospital there. This was accompanied by respiratory arrest and pulmonary embolism. At the moment, he is not stable, unfit for transport, and in need of urgent care. His wife is on site and so at least he has her support.

On Sunday I received the message that after a 24-hour ECG it would be decided how to proceed.
Just got the news: My father had a pacemaker inserted today. He is doing well so far.You have just accompanied a heart operation in Shanghai!

Dear Emergency Chain Team,
my father thanks you very much for your support. He flew home as scheduled on Sunday evening. Yesterday he had the stitches taken out. Now he only has to take blood thinning tablets and otherwise he can live his life worry-free. He was also significantly less tired than before the surgery, he said, because his heart wasn’t pumping quite enough blood to his head … He also mentioned that if it weren’t for his wife’s life-saving measures, he probably wouldn’t be alive.
We are very grateful to all of you !
