Complex cancer surgery

Period: 09.07.2014 - 28.07.2014
Protocol entries: 3
Area(s): Abdomen / Stomach / Intestine, Cancer, Operation, Pain

S. already had a colon surgery with cancer findings a year ago, as a result peritoneal metastases developed despite all control examinations. In the so-called “Sugarbaker” operation on 10.07.2014, all tumors are removed if possible, partial organs, peritoneum, piece of the intestine … Duration of surgery about 12 hours, then a chemotherapy solution is heated to about 41 degrees and the abdominal cavity is flushed for about 1 1/2 hours, then closed, followed by 2 days of intensive care.

Is not harmless and already risky. But the chances of success are very very good if you succeed.

    OP managed

Surgery on 10.07. apparently worked well, S. survived the 11-hour procedure well, they were able to remove all the tumors and she lost little blood. Now she’s in the ICU for a few more days, that’s still to get through. Please keep sending and thank you very much!

    Aftermath

    S. survived the surgery very well, but the afterpains are correspondingly severe. The digestive system has to undergo a massive adjustment due to the interventions, she is severely emaciated and repeatedly tormented by pain attacks. But she is holding her own, and the doctors are extremely pleased with her condition.

Today (21.07.) the stitches will be removed and the further course of treatment will be discussed, at the end of the week she will probably be discharged to home care.

Many thanks to all who have supported S. so well!

    Thank you

    Dear Helpers,

I have not heard anything since this case was closed, which I take as a positive sign. Before I archive the case now, I wanted to thank you all again very much.

    All love,
    René Vögtli
