Proud democrat rebels
If there is one thing I am proud of in Switzerland, it is our direct democracy. I am certainly critical of what some politicians call the “will of the people” … nevertheless: we all have something to say in Switzerland and can contribute directly to what is happening.
When I first heard about the idea of the source, the democrat in me rebelled, because I misinterpreted what the source consciousness says, namely that every company, every organisation, every undertaking and every relationship has a unique person who is the source. This person – he or she alone – has access to the visionary background, to meaning and purpose.
The anarchist gasps for breath
The anarchist in me, who is opposed to oppression, who is suspicious of regulations at first and who sees laws as momentary and changeable, this part of me immediately heard “boss”, “dictator”, “patriarchy” and cried out for “flat hierarchies”, “co-determination” and “collective”.
“Water carrier”? Me?!”
On top of that, it became apparent that the source of the organisation that had democratically elected me as its president, i.e. the highest ranking executive, that the source of this organisation was my wife. It literally burst out of me: “What does that make me? Will I be her water carrier?”
Hold your breath and listen
What Peter Koenig calls the source is quite the opposite of what I feared. To understand this I had to pause, put my prejudices aside and let my well honed reflexes come to rest.
An important function of the source is to surrender to his/her intuition. What the Source receives is not his/her possessions in the traditional sense, but a gift that the source preserves, nurtures, guards and protects. And which the source person passes on at the right time in exactly the same way as he or she has received it. The person received an idea with open hands, recognized it and dared to share it with others and had the courage to set about bringing the project to life, to bring the plan to fruition.
The Source is neither the “do it all” – nor the “front man”
The inspired person, the source, can be, for example, the personnel manager who has been working in the company for a long time or the air tinkerer in the workshop. The management of the company may well be in other hands, in those of the CEO. As long as the latter has contact with the ‘good soul of the company’ or ‘the grey eminence’ (often the founder) and thus has access to the intuition of the source, everything is alright.
This perspective made me feel reconciled and I want to know more.
When access to the source is cut off, suffering begins
The organisation of which I was president was not doing well. In fact that was the reason why we listened to Peter Koenig in the hope that he could help us cut our Gordian knot.
When it turned out that I was president, but without (source) consciousness, and my wife was the source – and she lacked that consciousness as well – it fell like scales before our eyes. I had wanted to ‘protect’ my wife from difficult decisions, and the more difficult the decisions became, the less I consulted her. She would have had intuitive access to the answers. My failure and my suffering added up to ever greater suffering. My wife witnessed this and her despair and helplessness caused her just as much suffering.
Recognizing the source is liberating
As I realized who was the source and why, a great weight suddenly and immediately fell from my shoulders and my wife was bursting with solutions. Later she handed over the source to me and even later I closed the company – but that’s a completely different story.
