Overcoming time and space is esoteric nonsense, isn’t it? No, says a study and shows an astonishing – because retroactive – result: significantly shorter stay in hospital and shorter duration of fever in patients with bloodstream infection.
Prayer vs. Reiki absentee treatment
It is far from me to put both on the same level. This could easily be perceived as an affront to religious people. I would ask permission to draw a parallel: prayer and absentee treatment with Reiki are both aimed at a healing or a harmonizing effect in relation to a circumstance, a process or a person.
Dizzying study
Many years ago I heard of a study which – if I wanted to recount it – always made my head spin. It goes like this: In 1996, researchers registered the pathology of 3,400 people with blood poisoning and kept them in a vault. Years later, in 2000, the group was halved by a coin toss, i. e. by chance. 1700 people received prayers in 2000, ie in retrospect. Of course, those who prayed did not know the history of the illness or the people involved.
Unbelievable: retroactive effect!
Afterwards, the clinical pictures were viewed and it was found that there was a significant difference in the group of 1700 people praayed for (in 2000! compared to the control group – the results had already taken place in the 1990s, i. e. before the time of intercession! This is so contrary to linear and chronological thinking and everything we experience in life as “real” that it does make one dizzy.
Result and conclusion
Long-distance and retroactive intervention through intercession (prayer) shortens the length of the hospital stay and the fever period significantly. The mortality rate is insignificantly lower in the prayer group. Prayer should therefore be considered for use in clinical practice.
Reiki insight
For me, this study shows that time and space can be overcome to a certain extent. The theories from quantum physics:”every particle is bound to every other particle in the universe” as well as the knowledge from spiritual practice: “Separation is an illusion” take shape in the here and now in the form of a measurable and observable healing.
If I send Reiki to an event in the past, then the effect is to be expected in the present or in the future. So much for common notion. This study opens up the possibility that even the past will benefit retroactively.
The study and my relationship to it
At a Reiki conference more than ten years ago, I had heard about it for the first time and was astounded. Since then I have often quoted it especially in the Reiki 2 seminar. Unfortunately, I did not have the necessary documents for a reference. Last week I told my friend Adriano about it; he researched and was promptly successful.
The study by Professor Leonard Leibovici was published in December 2001, issue 323 of the British Medical Journal under the title “Effects of remote, retroactive intercessory prayer on outcomes in patients with bloodstream infection: randomised controlled trial”. Here is the paper
