Here I am on the quiet small island of Sikinos and think about our next Newsletter. The topic was clear from the beginning: change, new beginning, metamorphosis?
But that it should come like this, that I did anticipate.
But one thing at a time. In autumn last year I was able to leave behind my accident really well. A wonderful and profound apology from the woman who had caused the accident has helped me more than I could have imagined. Yes, the human touch, it is enormously important, wounds of the flesh heal but how about inner wounds. Even with Reiki they take time. With the healing progress I clearly came to the conclusion that now a new phase of my life begins, I mark it and let my hair grow. At the beginning there were “protests” and now compliments only. I feel comfortable in the change even though I had to buy a comb the first time in 20 years.
Changes happen elsewhere, too. We have taken a conscious decision to continue staying in our apartment in Lucerne. This may look trivial at first but it was a process for us. The decision is not merely “we stay” but a renewed commitment in favour for our place of abode.
In terms of Reiki it seems to me that there has been a significant change. I cannot put it well in words. But a new and big step in a new dimension, a new depth is apparent. Reiki and medicine, ProReiki the professional association, the video with Phyllis, new masters beginning their training.
And now, exactly now, this humongous change on Sikinos. The island has burnt, it still burns in parts. It is unbelievably awful. A major destruction; a third of the island’s crop is gone. And all because of a carelessness. The people here, who have little in the first place, have lost fields, vines, olive groves. Their modest livelihood. Yes, new vegetation will grow but the loss and pain in this moment is big. On the other side, there is this most impressive sense of a cohesive community. A moment ago, builders were in my house – yes, here too, there are changes; the ceiling had collapsed – when a call came and they hurriedly left the work, literally threw their tools on the floor to run to the fire front. All men left and the woman looked after them.
Now is a new day and they are back, my brave men. On donkey’s back the construction waste is carried away and the same donkeys bring new construction material. All in motion, all in change. Pantha rei.
And in the spirit of change I great you all from the bottom of my heart.

PS I am just giving an 3A Initiators Seminar here in Sikinos. One learns not only to initiate humans but also plants. My participant’s assignment of the day was to go to the fields and make 8 initiations.
He just came back. All smiles. He had climbed a mountain and initiated the burnt fields. “How wonderful to support the healing of mother earth!” he exclaimed.
Yes, even in moments of apparent powerlessness we can apply Reiki and help. Very touching.
