Here we are, Phyllis, her translator, my son and I. We are about to present 3 of the 66 videos from the „archive“. The occasion is the 2017 ProReiki congress in Gersfeld/Germany. And – lo and behold – in one of these videos Hans, the translator, is getting portrayed. We only realize this live on stage…
In said video Phyllis describes the early years in Germany when she gave seminars near Hamburg and people came from other countries like Scandinavia or Holland for the first time since WW2. In one particularly moving scene she talks about a Dutch truck driver and how he experienced healing and with it conciliation, which lead him to say that he felt as though he had finally come home.
To illustrate healing processes on the other side, she described a German whom she had met and who pronounced that he was “not German but a citizen of the world!”. Her response was not only confusing to the man she addressed but to herself as well, she said: “Hans, you’re really German and if you don’t own this Germaneness then you’ll never be able to use it in a way that heals people”. Very moving and profound.
Noone on stage had realised that the scene in the movie actually had to do with Hans, the translator, who was right there with us. In hindsight I shook my head in disbelief that I had not noticed the coincidentiality of the names earlier. Phyllis had not realised that we had picked the video in which she spoke of this very man. Only when the scene ran across the screen, it hit her. It was Hans who informed the audience, outed himself, so to speak. I almost fell off my stool.
