The trend is towards the second brain

from our video archiv

What does man think with? With the brain, of course – what a question! Well, maybe not quite.

In the seminar the question of the meaning of our ratio and brain functions often arises. The heart plays a central role in the initiation and those who deal with spirituality will sooner or later encounter Kokoro (spirit, heart) in the Japanese context. Against this background, we are particularly pleased with this contribution from our Master candidate.

We humans don’t just think with the little grey cells in our heads. According to recent scientific research, we have a separate brain elsewhere in our body – in our heart! The heart brain even has its own nervous system with around 40,000 neuronal circuits and is thus capable of sensations, of storing memories, of learning processes and, last but not least, of making decisions – completely independent of the head brain. And there are even considerably more nerves leading from our heart to our brain than vice versa.

Until now, our (head) brain was the sole key to our personality and the location of our intelligence. From a medical point of view, the heart was mainly recognized as a pump to supply oxygen-bearing blood to all organs. Vital, no question, but thinking with the heart? Of course, emotional intelligence is familiar to most people as a term nowadays. But who would have guessed that emotional intelligence is really located in our heart and not in the brain? In various experiments not only this could be proven, but also that the heart brain is decisively involved in the shaping of our intuition.

But that’s not all: researchers at the Institute of Heart Math in California have detected that a large pulsating magnetic field of the heart can be measured several meters away from the body. The electrical component of the field is 60 times stronger than that of the brain, the magnetic component even up to 5000 times stronger. The heart field sends complex rhythmic patterns through our body and thus influences various processes. Our brain synchronizes itself again and again with the electromagnetic pulse of the heart. And when we are satisfied and relaxed, our breath and blood pressure also correspond to the heart pulse.

A small excursion: Our heart is the first organ that develops in the womb of an embryo. And in addition to the organ as such, the heart is formed on a subtle level as the main energy center. This energy center is connected to all energy fields of our body and forms the center of the seven main energy centers, also called chakras. One of the organs assigned to the heart chakra next to the heart itself is the skin, with up to two square meters the largest (sensory) organ of the human being. The skin is known as the mirror of our soul: Those who are balanced and happy seem to radiate from within. And in order for us humans to feel really well, we need touch.

Back to the brain function of the heart: If we bring the impulses of our brain and of our heart into harmony – with the heart being the impulse generator – we are well, our immune defense is strengthened, our self-healing capabilities are activated and aging processes are slowed down. But how can the impulses be synchronized? Simply by consciously taking time out for ourselves in this fast-moving and challenging world, coming to rest, relaxing, arriving in the here-and-now and listening to our heart. It helps to close our eyes and place our hands on the body, preferably on the heart or the heart chakra (centered on the breastbone). This can be excellently combined with a Reiki treatment, in which the combination of soothing touch (connection skin – heart) and harmonizing reiki energy significantly increases the above-mentioned positive effects.

Let Heart, Brain and Hand do good for you and think more often with your heart: your health will thank you!

Thank you Christina!

This article was written by Christina Schlömer as guest author. It will probably be her last article, which she will publish here, because Christina is making great strides towards the end of her Reik-Teacher training. It is a pity that we lose such an eloquent guest author and precise researcher. But the world gets a new Reiki Master instead.

Christina lives in Hamburg and started Reiki in 2015. She works full-time as an assistant to the management in the paper trade. Her master graduation is expected to take place at the beginning of April 2019.

In this article, Reiki is written when teaching and practice are meant and reiki is written when it refers specifically to the energetic phenomenon “from the origin of life” (quote ProReiki).

“Kokoro” is the theme of the video “Reconciliation between heart and mind”. It can be purchased via the website of my conciliation project
